Account & Data Deletion
In compliance with Google Play data safety standards and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), you have full control over your Kego account and personal data.
1. Delete Directly Within the Mobile App (Instant)
Fastest method for users with the Kego app installed
You can delete your account at any time directly inside the Kego mobile app without contacting support:
- Open the Kego Mobile App on your device.
- Sign in to your account and navigate to the Account tab (bottom right).
- Tap the Menu toggle pill at the top right of your screen.
- Scroll down past Account Management to the red Danger Zone section.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the prompt. If you signed up with email & password, enter your password to confirm. If you signed in with Google, tap Confirm to authenticate instantly.
Notice: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Any active orders will be cancelled and unspent promotional coupons will be revoked.
2. Request Deletion via Web or Email (No App Required)
For users who have uninstalled the app or lost device access
If you do not have the app installed, you can submit an account deletion request to our Data Protection Officer:
Send an email from your registered Kego account email address to:
Subject: Account Deletion Request - [Your Registered Email]
Our compliance team will verify your ownership and process the deletion request within 48 to 72 hours, sending you an email confirmation once completed.
3. What Data is Deleted vs. Retained
- Your profile details (Name, avatar, phone number, delivery addresses).
- Authentication credentials (passwords, 4-digit PIN hashes).
- Active OAuth sessions & Google Sign-In associations.
- Device push notification tokens (Expo tokens).
- In-app cart and saved wishlist items.
- Browsing history and personalized recommendations.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), CAMA, and statutory tax and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws:
- Completed financial orders and payment transaction receipts must be archived for statutory audit periods.
- Vendor payout ledgers and KYC compliance logs required by law.
- These records are securely archived and decoupled from active user authentication.
4. Deletion Timeline & Backups
Upon deletion, your account access is terminated immediately and personal data is expunged from all active database clusters. Routine encrypted system backups are purged and overwritten within 30 calendar days.
